Rasa Baločkaitė is an Associate Professor in sociology in the Department of Social and Political Theory, Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania. She was a visiting Fulbright scholar at UC Berkeley in 2011 and a visiting fellow at Potsdam Centre for Contemporary History in 2012 and 2013. Her scholarly interests include the Soviet and post-Soviet societies, Soviet colonialism and societies in transition. She has published in leading peer reviewed journals: “Problems of Post Communism” (2009), “Journal of Baltic Studies” (2011, 2016), “Slovo” (2012), “Language Policy” (2014), “European History Quarterly” (2015), and others.
