Maryja Šupa has recently defended her dissertation on the physical, legal and discursive aspects of social control over urban space at Vilnius University. Her current interests are: application of Foucauldian perspectives to power relations in the 21st century; tensions between corporate, political and grassroots uses of technology; liveable and loveable cities; making things happen; and punk parenting.
Maryja is a researcher at the Civil Society Institute, a non-governmental organisation advocating the principles of open governance and open cities in Lithuania. She is also a lecturer of communication at Vilnius University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and a member of the European Group for the Study of Deviance and Social Control.
