Gediminas Urbonas is an artist and Professor at the Department of Architecture, Director of the Program in Art, Culture and Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Together with Nomeda Urbonienė he founded US:Urbonas Studio, which is dedicated to the interdisciplinary research practice that advocates for the reclamation of public space through stimulating cultural and political imagination as tools for social change. One of Urbonas’ most prominent projects is “Pro-test Lab”—a laboratory for the preservation of public spaces. In 2007 for their achievements in arts and culture, the duo received the Lithuanian National Prize award. Currently Gediminas and Nomeda are directing a Zooetics project—a five-year lenght research on the environmental fictions and models of the future.
